Welcome to the home of my future business. Thank you for visiting. Here you will find current evidence based information from my readings and experiences on topics relating to Midwifery, Lactation and Women’s Health.
Upon graduation in 2016 this will also be a launching pad for my Travel Midwifery service providing you with the home birth you desire wherever you are located.
If you are in the Bay Area, CA and are looking for a Doula or a Monitrice in 2016, I will be available locally for those roles.
As a Doula I will provide labor support, comfort measures and psychological support either in the home, hospital or birth center until the baby is born and has nursed for the first time. I will include two prenatal appointments in order to get to know one another and prepare for the birth, and one postpartum visit to ensure you and baby are settling in well. The fee for this service is $1000.
A Monitrice is a Doula with some of the assessment capabilities of a midwife. A Monitrice can assess vital signs, monitor fetal heart rate, and do dilation checks to help you decide when is the right time to go to the hospital in labor. In this role I will come to your home while you are in labor and provide the support you need to labor comfortably in your home, and the assessment you need to decide when to transition to the hospital. I will accompany you to the hospital and continue to function as your Doula from then on, staying until after baby has latched and nursed. Two prenatal visits and one postpartum visit are included. This is a great option for first-timers and for those planning a hospital VBAC, as well as anyone planning a hospital birth who prefers to labor at home as long as possible to avoid any unnecessary interventions. The fee for this service is $1700.
